Battery Quality Issue ZQ120 plus ZQ220 plus ZR138

  • Product ZQ22 and the single battery references are affected by any kind of quality issue.
  • ZQ120/ZR138 are also affected, but these refs are not available in EMEA.

Actions from Purchasing:
  • We have proceeded to BLOCK printer ref. ZQ22-B16B1KE-00 and the battery ref. BTRY-MPV-25MAC1-01.
  • We will proceed to RETURN the units inside the serial number range provided by Zebra.
  • there is not an immediate replacement / solution until end of DECEMBER.
 
Actions Sales Team:
  • We have checked ZQ220 Plus serial numbers and find 48x units potentially affected. Please double check attached list which includes customer’s name and serial numbers involved.
  • We do not have sales of single battery pack.
  • You should communicate to customers that battery inside ZQ220 Plus printers did not pass the Zebra quality control. Below you will find more information regarding quality issue and a link of email template you should use to inform the customer.
  • Customer should return the battery following DOA process, but please,  you must leave clear to customer that there is not an immediate replacement / solution until end of DECEMBER.

Dear Distributor, 
 
We are contacting you to let you know that as part of a regular audit, Zebra discovered quality issues at one of our battery manufacturers, and because this manufacturer did not meet our quality standards, we have ceased using its products. 
 
The quality concern was discovered in the battery pack associated with the cylindrical cell from a third-party supplier. Therefore, we have issued a stop ship for the following products: ZQ120 Plus, ZQ220 Plus and ZR138 Printers, and the Associated Battery Pack Kit BTRY-MPV-25MAC1-01. Zebra will offer a replacement battery pack at no cost to the customer once the impacted products are returned. Zebra will also incur the costs of the replacement units and any associated shipping. 
 
Zebra is requesting the impacted products be returned as soon as possible and will have a solution available in December 2024.
 
Take the following four actions now to ensure the safety of our mutual customers: 
1. Determine if you sold any impacted models.
Confirm whether your organization sold or distributed any of the affected products that were manufactured after May 1, 2024:
·         ZQ120 Plus, ZQ220 Plus and ZR138 Printers with a serial number (s/n) between XXXXX2419XXXXX to XXXXX2434XXXXX.
·         Affected Battery Pack Kits (BTRY-MPV-25MAC1-01) with a serial number (s/n) between 12224XXXXXXXZ2 to 21224XXXXXXXZ2.
Refer to the Printer and Battery Pack Manufacturer information to determine if the units were impacted. See images below for examples on where to find this information.

2. Contact your partners and customers and ask them to return the affected products.
It is imperative that you determine which customers have the affected products and communicate this message to them using the downloaded email template. The email template should be edited with your company information prior to sending to your customers.
 
3. Help your partners and their customers return the affected products.
Follow the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process to return the product back to Zebra.
 
4. Equip your sales and support teams with general information. 
Share this information with your customer-facing team members so they are equipped to redirect inquiries, as appropriate. Although you may not have directly sold the Zebra printers or associated battery pack kits that fall within the impacted timeframe, you may have customers who have purchased these products elsewhere and will come to you regardless of the original sales source to help manage the return and exchange of their products.
